Hiking: one of the most fascinating leisure activities at Lake Tegernsee
Lake Tegernsee and its surroundings are a popular hiking paradise for guests from near and far. More than 300 kilometres of well sign-posted hiking trails await you. On the eastern and western shore of the lake you can go on easy hikes that lead to beautiful alpine pastures and spectacular mountain peaks. The 1,722-metre-high Wallberg, a worthwhile destination due to its magnificent view, rises in the south. Other popular hikes at Lake Tegernsee take you to the Tegernsee hut, to the Aueralm pasture, and to the mountains of Leonhardstein and Hirschberg.

Swimming, splashing around, paddling, or sailing – everything is possible at Lake Tegernsee! In summer, the lake is over 20°C warm and therefore has the perfect bathing temperature. Did you know that Lake Tegernsee is also one of the cleanest lakes in Bavaria and that it has drinking water quality? Its crystal-clear waters and dreamlike landscapes also make it one of the most beautiful lakes in Germany. With a maximum depth of 73 metres, a width of 1.4 kilometres, and a length of 6.5 kilometres, the lake offers plenty of space for great water adventures. But that's not all! At Lake Tegernsee you can do much more than just swim: In the sailing centre you can rent stand-up paddle boards, sailing boats, and much more and enjoy a leisurely cruise on the lake. After exciting moments on water, we recommend a leisurely stroll along the lake road, the well-known promenade and gourmet path of Lake Tegernsee.
